生後6ヶ月～18歳の小児におけるインフルエンザワクチンの接種率－アメリカ、8ヶ所の予防接種情報システムセンチネル地域、2008-09インフルエンザシーズン

インフルエンザによる罹病や死亡の予防にはワクチンの接種が最も有効である。インフルエンザワクチンは2004年に生後6～23ヶ月の小児、2006年には生後24～59ヶ月の小児への年1回接種が勧告されている。2008年8月、米国予防接種諮問委員会(ACIP)は2008-09インフルエンザシーズンよりインフルエンザワクチンの年1回接種の対象を5～18歳の全ての小児まで拡大し、また生後6ヶ月～8歳の小児のうち前年のインフルエンザシーズン (2007年8月1日～2008年3月31日)にワクチン未接種の小児と初めて1回だけワクチンを接種した小児には2回の接種(最低4週間隔)を勧告した。生後6ヶ月～18歳の小児における2008-09シーズンのインフルエンザワクチン接種率を評価するため、CDCは8ヶ所の予防接種情報システム (IIS)センチネル地域のデータの平均値を算出した。2008-09シーズンにおけるワクチンの1回以上接種率は生後6～23ヶ月、2～4歳、5～10 歳、11～12歳、13～18歳の小児でそれぞれ平均47.8%、27.8%、16.3%、12.7%、9.1%であった。生後6～23ヶ月の小児における1回以上接種率は2007-08シーズンの40.8%から2008-09シーズンには47.8%に増加したが、まだ十分とはいえなかった。2009年には小児への季節性インフルエンザと2009年パンデミックインフルエンザA(H1N1)に対するワクチン接種が勧告されている。今後、小児におけるインフルエンザワクチン接種の障壁などについて調査する必要がある。
