State Medicaid Expansion Tobacco Cessation Coverage and Number of Adult Smokers Enrolled in Expansion Coverage — United States, 2016

禁煙治療に対する州のメディケイド補償枠拡大と拡大補償枠に加入している成人の喫煙者数 ― アメリカ、2016年

2015年、Medicaidに加入する成人の27.8％が現喫煙者であり、民間の医療保険加入者(11.1％)に比べて多いことから、喫煙関連疾患がMedicaidのコストに占める割合が高く、2006年～2010年では年間支出額の約15％(390億ドル以上)を占めている。アメリカでは2016年7月1日の時点で32州がMedicaid枠を拡大しており、Medicaidの補償対象である成人喫煙者は約330万人となった。新たに補償対象となった成人はアラスカ州：2,567人～ニューヨーク州：618,395人であり、うち喫煙者はアラスカ州：2,567人～ペンシルベニア州：291,351人である。2016年7月1日、Medicaid枠を拡大した32州のうち9州(コロラド州、コネチカット州、インディアナ州、マサチューセッツ州、ミネソタ州、ノースダコタ州、オハイオ州、ペンシルベニア州、バーモント州)では9種類の禁煙治療(個人カウンセリング、グループカウンセリング、ニコチンパッチ、ニコチンガム、ニコチン口内錠、ニコチン鼻腔スプレー、ニコチン吸入薬、ブプロピオン、バレニクリン)をすべて補償対象とし、17州はMedicaid拡大による加入者の個人的な禁煙カウンセリング、11州はすべての加入者のカウンセリング、19州はすべての加入者にFDAが認可する7種類の禁煙薬を補償対象としている。また、32州すべてが自己負担金、事前認可、期間の制限、回数の制限など少なくとも1つの負担を課している。
