Restaurant Menu Labeling Use Among Adults — 17 States, 2012

成人におけるレストランメニューへの表示の利用 ― 17州、2012年

2010年、アメリカでは20店舗以上を運営するレストランに対し、メニューまたはメニューボードにカロリー情報の表示を求める連邦法が可決した。CDCはファストフード店およびレストランチェーン店におけるメニューへの表示(ML)について、国内17州の成人の自己申告による利用状況を2012年のBehavioral Risk Factor Surveillance SystemのSugar-Sweetened Beverages and Menu Labeling optional moduleを用いて分析した。回答者は118,013名であり、そのうち「カロリー表示に気が付かなかった／見たことがない」(2.2％)、「カロリー情報を見つけられない」(0.3％)、「ファストフード店やチェーン店で外食しない」(6.4％)と回答した10,548名、さらにデータ不十分の7,324名は除外した。100,141名におけるMLの利用者は57.3％(いつも利用する：11.9％、たいてい利用する：13.7％、半分くらい:8.8％、時々:22.8％)、非利用者は42.7％であった。利用者は州別ではニューヨーク州(61.3％)、ハワイ州(60.2％)にて多く、モンタナ州(48.7％)にて少なかった。いずれの州においても利用者は男性に比べ女性に多く、とくにニューヨーク州とメリーランド州の女性がそれぞれ71.0％、68.0％と多かった。レストランの食事のカロリー表示は、摂取カロリーの減少と健康的な食品の選択を促すため、今後、非利用者に対し、表示の認識とその利用を広めることが必要と考える。
