Outbreak of Listeria monocytogenesInfections Associated with Pasteurized Milk from a Local Dairy － Massachusetts, 2007

地方の酪農場の低温殺菌牛乳によるListeria monocytogenes感染症のアウトブレイク－マサチューセッツ州、2007年

2007 年11月27日、Massachusetts Department of Public Health(MDPH)に87歳のリステリア症が報告された。同州にて2007年6、10、11月に確認された他の3例のPFGEパターンと、この患者から分離されたListeria monocytogenesのPFGEパターンとが識別不能であったため、MDPHと保健所による調査が行われ、患者の家にあった牛乳(酪農場Aが製造した低温殺菌牛乳)からL. monocytogenesが検出され、分離された菌と同一のPFGEパターンを示した。MDPHはさらに2007年に州内で発症したリステリア症11例全例の調査を開始し、このアウトブレイクとPFGEパターンを示すL. monocytogenesが検出された症例または発症前6週間以内に酪農場Aの乳製品を摂取した症例が5例(31-87歳、男3女 2)確認された。男性3例は全例が死亡し、女性はともに妊婦であり、31歳女性は妊娠36週に絨毛羊膜炎を来たしたが、健康な早産児を出産、また、34歳女性は発熱と腹痛を来たし、妊娠37週に死産した。また、Massachusetts Food Protection Program(MFPP)により酪農場Aの査察が行われ、採取された検体をState Laboratory Institute(SLI)が検査した結果、未開封のコーヒー味の牛乳からL. monocytogenesが検出された。酪農場Aは閉鎖、乳製品は回収され、さらに加工工場と隣接する小売店から採取した検体の検査では、製品エリアの排水溝の塗布検体(n=1)、脱脂乳(n=1)、味つきの牛乳(n=7)からPFGEパターンの一致するL. monocytogenesが検出され、PFGEパターンの異なるL. monocytogenesも検出された。これを受けて酪農場Aは2008年2月1日、牛乳の加工工場を永久的に閉鎖すると発表している。
