Nonfatal Residential Fire-Related Injuries Treated in Emergency Departments - United States, 2001

救急診療部にて治療した住宅火災による非致死性負傷－アメリカ,2001年

2000年、アメリカでは3,907名が火災により死亡し、うち2,955名(76%)が住宅火災によるものであった。CDCは2001年の救急診療部(ED)にて治療を受けた住宅火災による非致死的負傷者に関してNational Electronic Injury Surveillance System－All Injury Program(NEISS－AIP)データを分析した。全米防火協会によると、2001年の住宅火災件数は約396,500件で、負傷しEDを受診した症例は25,717例(人口10万人あたり9.0人)と推定された。患者は男性がわずかに多く(男9.9 vs女8.2)、また年齢別では35－44歳、25－34歳で高率であった。月別では7月が最も多く2,964例、10月が最も少なく1,203例であった。症例の5.9%が入院し、54.5%が酸素欠乏症(一酸化炭素中毒、煙の吸い込み)、45.5%が火傷と診断された。火傷部位は腕/手(41.3%)、頭頸部(20.9%)であった。火災原因は調理器具、暖房器具、放火/不審火、配電器具などが挙げられ、煙草による火災が死因の第1位、負傷の第3位を占めていた。1998年以降、CDCは煙探知機の取り付けや火災の危険性の高い地域での教育プログラムに対し資金提供を行っており、2020年までに住宅火災による死亡者をなくすことを目標に掲げている。
