野生型およびワクチン由来ポリオウイルスの研究室調査,2002年1月～2003年6月

WHOの6地域145研究室における急性弛緩性麻痺(AFP)症例の便検体分析は、2002年では71,478検体(対前年比+10%、対前々年比+17%)、2003年1－6月では29,232検体に行われ、非ポリオエンテロウイルスはそれぞれ15%、12%検出された。2002－2003年の野生株ポリオウイルスはアフガニスタン、インド、ニジェール、ナイジェリア、パキスタンにて1型(P1)および3型(P3)がともに検出され、ブルキナファソ、エジプト、ガーナ、レバノン、ザンビアではP1、ソマリアではP3のみ検出されている。2型(P2)は1999年10月にインドのウッタルブラデシから検出されたのを最後に認められなくなったが、2002年後半－2003年前半にP2参考菌株(MEF－1)がAFP 7例、健常児1例および環境試料から分離された。WPVが検出された上記11ヶ国のうち、4ヶ国(ブルキナファソ、ガーナ、レバノン、ザンビア)は他国からの輸入感染であった。ワクチン由来ポリオウイルス(VDPV)は計3,933検体分離され、うち3,916検体はSabinワクチン関連ウイルスであった。
