Multistate Outbreaks of Salmonella Serotype Poona Infections Associated with Eating Cantaloupe from Mexico - United States and Canada, 2000-2002

多くの州におけるメキシコ産カンタループの摂取に関連したPoona血清型サルモネラ感染症のアウトブレイク－米国およびカナダ，2000～2002年

2000－2002年の春、米国およびカナダの多くの州でメキシコから輸入されたカンタループの摂取に関連するPoona血清型サルモネラ(S.Poona)感染症が大発生した。アウトブレイクは最初にCalifornia Department of Health Services(2000年、2001年)とWashington State Department of Health(2002年)で確認され、12州およびカナダの住民が影響を受けた。2000年4－6月には6州で47例(1－95歳)、2001年4－5月には5州で50例(カリフォルニア州で28例中小児は19例 : 1－5歳、成人は9例 : 39－91歳)、2002年3－5月には14州で58例(4か月－91歳)のS.Poona陽性患者が確認された。各アウトブレイクにおいて、分離菌株はパルスフィールドゲル電気泳動パターンにより区別できなかった。2002年10月28日、FDAは全米の港に着いた全てのメキシコ産カンタループをそのまま留めておくよう輸入警告を出した。さらにFDAは、今後もメキシコ政府とともに生のカンタループの生産、梱包、船舶輸送に関する食品安全性プログラムに取り組む予定である。
