2～10歳の小児に対する髄膜炎菌結合型ワクチンの認可と髄膜炎菌疾患のリスクの高い思春期齢および他の年齢層に対する追加接種ガイドラインの最新版－Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)、2011年

2011年1月、FDAは4価髄膜炎菌結合型ワクチンMenACWY-CRM (Menveo)の適用年齢を引き下げ、11～55歳から2～55歳となった。また、MenACWY-D (Menactra)は2～55歳を適用として承認され、さらに9～23ヶ月齢の2回接種に適用が拡大されている。ここでは適用が拡大された年齢(2～10歳)における安全性と免疫原性および両ワクチンの互換性についてのデータをまとめた。MenACWY-CRMの2～10歳における安全性および免疫原性は多施設ランダム化試験において検討されている。MenACWY-CRM単回接種後の血清型A、C、W-135、Yそれぞれの血清応答(hSBA力価＝8)は75、72、90、77%の症例に認められ、MenACWY-D単回接種ではそれぞれ80、68、79、60%であった。接種後7日以内の投与部位反応(疼痛、紅斑、硬結)、全身性副作用(頭痛、被刺激性)は同等に認められた。また、11～18歳における接種後3年のMenACWY-CRMの血清型A、C、W-135、Yそれぞれの血清応答率は28、64、82、65、53%、MenACWY-Dでは21、62、71、53%であり、2回目接種例では99%以上が血清応答を示した。さらにMenACWY-CRMまたはMenACWY-D接種後にMenACWY-CRMを追加接種した場合の副作用発現率は同等であった。
