Nonfatal Scald-Related Burns Among Adults Aged ＝65 Years － United States, 2001-2006

65歳以上の成人における非致死性熱湯傷－アメリカ、2001～2006年

アメリカにおいて、熱湯や湯気による熱傷(熱湯傷)は熱傷による全入院患者の33～58%を占める。65歳以上の高齢者は年齢関連因子や共存症などのため若齢者に比べて熱湯傷後の予後が不良であり、より大がかりな治療が必要となる。アメリカにおいて非致死性熱湯傷により救急診療部(ED)を受診した65歳以上の高齢者数を推定し、その特徴を調査するため、CDCはNational Electronic Injury Surveillance System All Injury Program(NEISS-AIP)の2001～2006年のED受診データを分析した。この期間中、非致死性熱湯傷のためEDを受診した65歳以上の高齢者は全体で約51,700例、年間平均8,620例と推定され、年間受診率(10万人あたり)は23.8例であった。8,620例中5,740例 (67%)は女性であった。7,970例(93%)は治療後帰宅し、510例(6%)は入院あるいはより特殊な治療を行うため転院した。熱傷部位は上肢 (42%)と下肢(38%)が多かった。熱湯傷の76%は自宅で発生し、42%は熱い料理、30%は熱湯や湯気が原因であった。今後、高齢者をターゲットとした効果的な熱湯傷防止プログラムが必要と考えられる。
