Solar Panel Installation Workers Exposed to Pesticides During Two Agricultural Applications — Michigan, August 2023 and May 2024

2回の農業用散布中の農薬に曝露した太陽光パネル設置作業員－ミシガン州、2023年8月および2024年5月

農地の近くで働く人は、隣接する農業地域に散布された農薬に曝露するリスクがある。ミシガン州の規制では、農地および農地近辺の空き地への太陽光パネルの設置が認められている。太陽光パネルの設置やメンテナンスを行う建設作業員など、農地または農地に隣接する空き地で働く非農業労働者は、農薬に曝露される可能性があるが、健康に及ぼす影響についての知識は乏しい。病院、救急部門(ED)、州の毒物センター、救急サービス会社からミシガン州の農薬監視プログラムへの報告では、太陽光パネル設置作業員が農薬曝露後に体調不良を経験した2件の別々の事例が、最初は2023年8月(事例A)に、2回目は2024年5月(事例B)に確認された。これらの2件の事例では、合計10例の太陽光パネル設置作業員が、近隣の農業における農薬散布と時間的に関連する症状を報告した。事例Aでは、太陽光パネルの設置作業中だった20～69歳の男性8例が、非制限使用の殺菌剤(Miravis Neo)および制限使用殺虫剤(Tombstone)の空中散布による散布ドリフトに曝露した直後に症状を呈した。作業員らは、めまい、吐き気、咳、目のかゆみ、口周のしびれ、頭痛、息切れ、息苦しさ、皮膚の発赤、発疹、炎症、筋力低下を訴え、全員が曝露当日にEDを受診し検査と処置を受け、同日に退院した。呼吸困難と咳が続いた1例は、7日後に再びEDを受診し、抗コリン剤を投与された。4例は曝露から1か月後、息切れ、咳、毎週の頭痛、喉の痛みが続いているため、雇用主から産業医を紹介された。他の4例の症状は、EDから退院するまでに解消した。事例Bは、作業員から推定5フィート(1.5メートル)離れたトラクターから散布され、制限のない使用が認められているRoundup PowerMAX 3除草剤に曝露した際に発生した。作業員の男性2例(30歳と49歳)が曝露後数時間以内に、喉の痛み、目のかゆみと涙目、皮膚の発疹または発赤、咳、胸痛、筋力低下、頭痛を訴えた。1例は曝露当日にEDを受診し、2時間以内に退院した。もう1例は、症状発現の2日後にEDを受診し、曝露して4日後に持続的な筋力低下のため再度診察を受けた。救急外来では血液検査が行われ、筋肉痛の治療に非ステロイド性抗炎症薬が投与され、症状は改善した。農薬散布者が製品ラベルの指示を遵守することは、第三者への曝露を防ぐために極めて重要である。農地付近で働く非農業労働者の農薬曝露に対する可能性の意識を高めることは、リスクを軽減する可能性がある。農村部で働く非農業労働者の雇用主は、作業現場周辺の農業活動を把握し、非農業労働者に農薬散布時間中はその地域を避けるか保護具を着用するようアドバイスできるように、農家に連絡して農薬散布スケジュールの特定を検討するべきである。地域の中毒情報センターは、急性曝露の管理に関するガイダンスを提供できる。
