Mortality in the United States — Provisional Data, 2023

National Center for Health Statistics(NCHS)のNational Vital Statistics Systemでは、アメリカの死亡証明書データを使用して年間死亡統計を収集し、報告している。死因の調査、死亡データの処理および検証には時間を要するため、どの年でも最終的な年間死亡率データは通常、年末から11カ月後に公表される。暫定データはNCHSに送られた予備的な死亡証明書データに基づき、最終データの公表前に早期の死亡推定値を提供する。今回、2022年の死亡率との比較を含む2023年のアメリカでの死亡率の暫定データの概要を示す。2023年、アメリカでは暫定で計3,090,582人が死亡し、年齢調整後の死亡者数は人口10万人あたり750.4人であり、2022年の798.8人から6.1％減少した。死亡者数は1月7日で終わる週(68,965人)と12月30日で終わる週(65,257人)にて最も多かった。年齢別では5～14歳にて死亡率が最も低く(10万人あたり14.7人)、85歳以上にて最も高く(同14,285.8人)、2022年と同様のパターンを示した。死亡率は2022年から2023年にかけてすべての年齢層にて減少した。男女別では女性(同632.8人)に比べ男性(同884.2人)にて高く、男女ともに2022年(男性954.5人、女性666.1人)よりも低かった。人種/民族別の年齢調整死亡率は2022年から2023年にかけてすべてのグループにて減少し、2023年では非ヒスパニック系多民族(10万人あたり352.1)にて最も低く、非ヒスパニック系黒人/アフリカ系アメリカ人にて最も高かった(同924.3人)。死因の上位3つは心臓病(680,909人)、がん(613,331人)、不慮の外傷(222,518人)であり、2023年にCOVID-19を原死因とする死亡は49,928人であり10番目に多い死因であった(2022年は4番目)。2023年のCOVID-19を原死因または死亡の一因とする死亡者は計76,446人(10万人あたり18.2)であり、2022年の245,614人(同58.7)から68.9％減少し、すべての年齢層にて減少した。全体の死亡者数と同様にCOVID-19関連の年齢調整死亡率は女性(同15.4)に比べ男性にて高く(同22.1)、2022年から2023年にかけてすべての人種/民族グループにて減少した。
