Vital Signs: Health Worker–Perceived Working Conditions and Symptoms of Poor Mental Health — Quality of Worklife Survey, United States, 2018–2022

医療職(臨床医のほかに精神保健、公衆衛生、長期療養にかかわる職種やその他の支援職を含む)における仕事は、負担の多い作業、感染症への曝露、長時間労働、同僚、患者、患者家族との困難な交流を含む厳しい労働環境のため、ストレスが多い。COVID-19のパンデミックは医療従事者の精神的健康をさらに損なう特有の課題をもたらした。潜在的な予防戦略を特定するために、General Social Survey Quality of Worklife Moduleからのデータを分析し、2018年(回答者1,443人、医療従事者226人を含む)と2022年(回答者1,952人、医療従事者325人を含む)のアメリカの成人労働者の自己申告によるメンタルヘルス症状を比較した。医療従事者が報告した労働環境の認識と不安、うつ病、燃え尽き症候群との関連性を調べるために、ロジスティック回帰を使用した。2018年から2022年にかけて、医療従事者は過去30日間にメンタルヘルス不良の日が3.3日間から4.5日間へ1.2日増加したと報告し、燃え尽き症候群を頻繁に感じると報告した割合は11.6%から19.0%に増加した。2022年には、医療従事者は、管理者側を信頼し、監督者の支援があり、仕事を完了するのに十分な時間があり、職場が生産性をサポートしていると感じる場合は、そうでない場合に比べて、燃え尽き症候群になる確率が減少した。職場でのハラスメントは、不安、うつ病、燃え尽き症候群の確率の増加と関連していた。2022年も、医療従事者はメンタルヘルスの危機に直面することが続いていた。良好な労働環境は、燃え尽き症候群の減少とメンタルヘルスの改善に関連していた。CDCの国立労働安全衛生研究所は、医療従事者の雇用主に医療従事者のメンタルヘルスを改善するためのリソースを提供するために、全国的キャンペーンのImpact Wellbeingを展開している。
