Rapid Increase in Circulation of the SARS-CoV-2 B.1.617.2 (Delta) Variant — Mesa County, Colorado, April–June 2021
SARS-CoV-2 B.1.617.2(デルタ)変異株流行の急速な増加 ― コロラド州メサ郡、2021年4月~6月
2021年5月5日にコロラド州公衆衛生環境局(CDPHE)は、コロラド州西部のメサ郡(人口 154,933人、州の人口の3%未満)にて、SARS-CoV-2 B.1.617.2(デルタ)変異株によるCOVID-19症例を初めて5例確認した。最初の5例は全例が学校に関連していた。6月初旬に、メサ郡ではシーケンス検査で確認されたデルタ変異株症例の割合が顕著に増加し、B.1.617.2として特定されたシーケンス検体の7日間の割合は、5月1日に終わる週の43%から6月5日に終わる週には88%へ2倍を上回った。6月6日の時点で、コロラド州でシーケンス検査されたB.1.617.2検体の半数以上(51%)がメサ郡のものであった。CDPHEは、サーベイランス、ワクチン接種、検査室、病院の情報源のデータを評価して、デルタ変異株の予備的な疫学を特徴づけ、粗ワクチン有効性(VE)を算出した。メサ郡における5月初旬のワクチン接種率(ワクチン完全接種完了は36%)は、州の他の地域(44%)よりも低かった。2021年4月27日~6月6日に、メサ郡ではColorado Electronic Disease Reporting System(CDPHEが管理するサーベイランスシステム)を通じて合計1,945例のCOVID-19症例が報告された(罹患率は100,000人あたり1,255人)。コロラド州の他のすべての郡と比較して、罹患率、全体のICU入院、致命率、メサ郡で有意に高かった。さらに、メサ郡では、ワクチンを完全接種していたがCOVID-19に感染(ブレイクスルー感染)した65歳以上の人の割合(27.5%)が、他のすべてのコロラド州の郡(17.4%)よりも有意に高かった。6月5日を最終日とする2週間に報告された症候性感染に対する粗VEは、メサ郡で78%、コロラド州の他のすべての郡で89%であった。ワクチン接種は、COVID-19の感染、重篤化、死亡を防ぐために重要な戦略である。症例の割合が高い地域では、ワクチン接種状況に関係なく、屋内でのマスク着用などの強化された感染緩和戦略を考慮すべきである。
