Increases in Health-Related Workplace Absenteeism Among Workers in Essential Critical Infrastructure Occupations During the COVID-19 Pandemic — United States, March–April 2020

パンデミック時は、学校および職場の欠席/欠勤傾向の追跡のような医療環境以外の疾患モニタリングのための症候群サーベイランス手法が従来の疾患報告の補助として有用な可能性がある。CDCのNational Institute for Occupational Safety and Healthでは、アメリカで現在、雇用されているフルタイムの就業者の全体、人口統計学的および職業別のサブグループにおいて、毎月の健康に関連した欠勤率を観察している。今回、新型コロナウイルス感染症(COVID-19)の原因ウイルスであるSARS-CoV-2の感染が急激に加速した時期にあたる2020年3月~4月を含む2019年10月~2020年4月までの欠勤の傾向を報告する。2019年10月~2020年2月では、すべてのフルタイム就業者における健康関連の欠勤率の推定値は、流行閾値を維持するか下回っていたが、2020年3月と4月では有意ではなかったが、推定値は流行閾値を超えていた。4月には、いくつかの職業サブグループの欠勤率が職業特異的な流行閾値を超過し、保育士および介護助手を含む介護ケアサービス職では5.1% vs. 2.1%、医療ケア補助職では5.0% vs. 2.4%、肉・鶏肉・水産加工者を含む製造業では3.7% vs. 2.3%であった。また、バス運転手および地下鉄や路面電車の従事者を含む運輸業職、医療専門職および技術職でも欠勤率が上昇した。その他の職業グループでは、欠勤率は低下または横ばいであった。COVID-19サーベイランスでのさらなる職業データの収集は、COVID-19の職業的なリスクと影響を理解し、介入の機会の特定に役立つと考えられる。
