Update: Characteristics of Patients in a National Outbreak of E-cigarette, or Vaping, Product Use–Associated Lung Injuries — United States, October 2019
最新情報:電子たばこ、ベイピングなどの製品の使用に関連する肺傷害の全国的アウトブレイクにおける患者の特徴 ― アメリカ、2019年10月
2019年10月22日現在、49州、ワシントンDC、およびアメリカ領ヴァージン諸島にて電子たばこ、ベイピングなどの製品の使用に関連する肺傷害(EVALI)患者が1,604例報告され、そのうち死亡例は24州にて34例(2.1%)であった。今回、2019年10月15日までに報告された性別および年齢のデータが明らかな1,378例を対象に、患者の特徴と使用された物質について報告する。1,378例のうち男性は964例(70%)、女性は414例(30%)であり、年齢中央値は24歳(13~75歳)、737例(54%)が25歳未満、1,081例(79%)が35歳未満であった。人種/民族のデータは383例にて明らかであり、非ヒスパニック系白人が298例(78%)、ヒスパニックが62例(16%)であった。使用された物質のデータは867例で得られ、749例(86%)はテトラヒドロカンナビノール(THC)を含む製品、552例(64%)はニコチンを含む製品を発症前3カ月以内に使用しており、455例(52%)は両方の製品を使用し、294例(34%)はTHCを含む製品のみ、97例(11%)はニコチンを含む製品のみを使用、21例(2%)はどちらの製品も使用していなかった。また、EVALIに関連する死亡例は2019年10月15日時点で29例がCDCに報告されており、17例(59%)が男性、年齢中央値は45歳(17~75)歳であり、 男性の年齢中央値は55歳(17~71歳)、女性は43歳(27~75歳)、死亡例は生存例に比べ有意に高齢であった。使用した物質については19例にてデータがあり、16例(84%)がTHCを含む製品を使用し、そのうち12例(63%)がTHCを含む製品のみの使用であった。ニコチンを含む製品は7例(37%)が使用、うち3例(16%)はニコチンを含む製品のみを使用していた。両方を使用していた死亡例は4例であった。以上、EVALI患者の多くは発症前にTHCを含む製品を使用しており、CDCはTHCを含む電子たばこ、ベイピングなどの製品は使用すべきではないと勧告している。
