Mortality from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease Among
職業集団別の筋萎縮性側索硬化症およびパーキンソン病による死亡率 ― アメリカ、1985~2011年
CDCはNational Institute for Occupational Safety and Health(NIOSH)のNational Occupational Mortality Surveillance(NOMS)データを用いて、アメリカの30州における職業と筋萎縮性側索硬化症(ALS)およびパーキンソン病による死亡率との関連性を分析した。データ上の1985~1999、2003~2004、2007~2011年における死亡者数は計12,710,846名であり、そこから18歳未満、120歳以上、職業不明を除いた12,128,774名について分析した。ALSによる死亡は26,917例であり、全体の年齢分布と比較して年齢が低く、男性および白人が多かった。パーキンソン病による死亡は115,262例、年齢は高く、男性および白人が多かった。また心臓の慢性疾患による死亡は158,618例、年齢は高く、女性が多かった。26種の職業について、特定死因死亡比(PMR)を算出した結果、ALS死亡例についてPMRが1.00より有意に高い職業は14種類であり、うち4職業は1.50以上であった(コンピューター/情報処理:1.66、建築/エンジニアリング:1.55、法律関係:1.62、教育/訓練/図書館:1.67)。また、PMRが1.00よりも有意に低い職業は10種類であり、0.67以下の職業は認めなかった。パーキンソン病死亡例についてPMRが1.00以上の職業は13種類であり、1.50を超える職業は認めず、また、1.00より有意に低い職業は11種類、うち抽出(採掘または石油/ガスの掘削)は0.67以下であった。心臓の慢性疾患による死亡例はALS、パーキンソン病に比べ職業による大きな相違はなく、PMRは法律関係:1.15~抽出:0.81であった。以上、ALS、パーキンソン病による死亡リスクはSES(社会経済的地位)の高い職業にて大きいことが示された。
