主要大都市地域における銃による殺人と自殺―アメリカ、2006～2007年、2009～2010年

アメリカでは2009～2010年、銃による殺人は22,571件、自殺は38,126件発生し、このうち殺人3,397件、自殺1,548件は10～19歳にて発生していた。今回、2009～2010年のNational Vital Statistics System (NVSS)死亡率データおよび国勢調査の人口データより、大都市統計地域(MSA、2010年中期にて人口の多い順に50地域)における10歳以上の銃による殺人および自殺率を2006～2007年のデータと比較した。2009～2010年、MSAにおける銃による殺人は14,428件(人口10万人あたり4.3、サンディエゴ-カールズバッド:1.1～ニューオーリンズ-メテリー:19.0)であり、アメリカ全体(同3.7)に比べ高く、2006～2007年:17,149件(同5.2、アメリカ全体:4.2)より低下しており、MSA 50地域のうち39地域(78％)にて低下していた。このうち10～19歳は2006～2007年:3,060件(同6.6)から2009～2010年:2,368件(同5.1)と低下していた。また、銃による殺人の被害者は男性が85%を占めていた。銃による自殺者(10歳以上)は2009～2010年にて人口10万人あたり5.4(ニューヨーク-ニューアークージャージーシティ:1.6～ラスベガス-ヘンダーソン-パラダイス:11.4)であり、アメリカ全体(同7.0)に比べ低く、2006～2007年:5.1(アメリカ全体:6.5)から増加、MSA 50地域のうち37地域(74％)にて増加していた。うち10～19歳は2006～2007年、2009～2010年ともにMSAでは同1.2であり、自殺者の87％は男性であった。
