Suicide Among Adults Aged 35-64 Years － United States, 1999-2010

35～64歳の成人における自殺－アメリカ、1999～2010年

CDCによるNational Vital Statistics System(NVSS)データの分析によると、1999～2010年、アメリカにおける自殺者数(年齢補正)は10～34歳および65歳以上では大きな変動はなく、それぞれ7.0%増[ (10万人あたり(以下、同)9.2から9.9 ]、5.9%減(同15.8から14.9)であった。しかし35～64歳においては28.4%(同13.7から17.6)と有意に増加、男性ではとくに50～54歳(49.4%、同20.6から30.7)および55～59歳(47.8%、同20.3から30.0)、女性では60～64歳(59.7%、同4.4から7.0)にて大きく増加していた。人種/民族別ではアメリカインディアン/アラスカ原住民[65.2%、同11.2から18.5、(男性:59.5%、同17.0から27.2、女性:81.4%、同5.7から10.3)]および白人[40.4%、同15.9から22.3、(男性:39.6%、同24.5から34.2、女性:41.9%、同7.4から10.5)]での増加が顕著であった。地域別では国内4地域いずれにおいても有意に増加、2010年は西部(同19.5)にて最も高く、州別では39州にて有意に増加していた。自殺の方法は男性では銃および縊頸による自殺が多く(2010年それぞれ同14.3、6.8)、女性では服毒および縊頸が多かった(2010年それぞれ同3.4、2.5)。また、縊頸による自殺の増加は81.3%(同2.3から4.1)と最も大きく(男性:75.0%、女性:115.0%)、服毒24.4%(同3.0から3.8)、銃14.4%(同7.2から8.3)の順であった。以上、中年層の自殺の増加を抑止する対策の必要性が示唆される。
