臓器移植および輸血を介する西ナイルウイルス感染－ルイジアナ州、2008年

2002 年、臓器移植および輸血を介する西ナイルウイルス(WNV)感染症が報告され、輸血ドナーに対するWNVスクリーニングが開始された。しかし、現在のスクリーニング法では全ての感染例を検出することはできず、また、臓器移植ドナーに対するスクリーニングは通常行われていない。2008年10月、 Louisiana Department of Health(LDH)に神経侵襲性西ナイル病(WNND)が疑われる心移植レシピエントの報告があった。この症例は62歳の男性、肥大性心筋症およびうっ血性心不全のため9月23日に心臓移植を受け、移植8日後に挿管を要する強直間代性発作を来たし、ICUに移された。発熱(38℃)、白血球増加 (8.33×10<sup9
