Monitoring Health Effects of Wildfires Using the BioSense System － San Diego County, California, October 2007

BioSenseシステムを利用した山火事の健康への影響のモニタリング－カリフォルニア州サンディエゴ、2007年10月

2007年10月21～26日にカリフォルニア州サンディエゴで発生した山火事は、広範囲の土地に被害を及ぼし30万人以上が避難した。この報告では、サンディエゴの6ヶ所の病院から救急診療部(ED)で受信した患者の主訴情報と医師の診断コードの報告を受けているCDC BioSenseシステムのデータに基づき山火事の健康への影響を分析した結果のうち、呼吸器疾患(特に喘息、気管支炎、胸痛、咳、呼吸困難)に関して述べる。これら6病院における呼吸器疾患を主訴とした1日あたりのED受診者数は山火事発生前20日間(9月24日～10月19日のウィークデー)と山火事が発生した5日間(ウィークデー)でそれぞれ134.1例、163.2例、喘息はそれぞれ6.8例、19.2例、呼吸困難は48.6例、72.6例であり、山火事発生後に受診者数が有意に増加した。また山火事発生時には発生前に比べ呼吸器疾患、喘息、呼吸困難と診断されたED受診者の数も1日あたりそれぞれ30.3例(山火事前:117.8例、後:148.0例)、18.7例(それぞれ21.7例、40.4例)、7.3例(16.3例、23.6例)増加した。緊急事態発生中、健康被害の分析、対策の計画やその適切性の評価を行うために必要なタイムリーな情報を入手するため、地域、州、連邦の公衆衛生担当者は協力して自動サーベイランスシステムの拡大と監視を続ける必要がある。
