Mumps Epidemic － Iowa, 2006

アメリカにおけるおたふく風邪の症例数は231-293例/年(2001年以降)であり、アイオワ州では1996年以降は年間平均5例であるが、2006年は3月28日までに219例報告され、さらに隣接州にて14例(イリノイ州:11、ネブラスカ州:2、ミネソタ州:1)が調査中である。219例は21(3－85)歳、うち48%が17－25歳であり、大学生が30%(34/114)を占めた。ワクチン接種状態の明らかな133例では、2回接種:87例(65%)、1回接種:19例(14%)、接種なし:8例(6%)であり、症状の明らかな114例では耳下腺炎:94例(83%)、顎下腺/舌下腺の腫脹:46例(40%)、発熱:41例(36%)、咽頭炎:36例(32%)などが多く、平均罹病期間は5.1日であった。感染源は不明であるが、2005年、イギリスにて約56,000例が発症し、2005年のアメリカでのアウトブレイクとの関連が示唆されている。アイオワ州では今回のおたふく風邪の流行に関し、メールやウェブサイトにて最新情報を公開し、患者の隔離(5日間)、学生および大学関係者に対するMMRの2回接種を勧告している。
