Overweight Among Students in Grades K-12 - Arkansas, 2003-04 and 2004-05 School Years

K-12年生における体重過多－アーカンソー州、2003～2004年および2004～2005学年期

アメリカでは1999－2002年、20歳以上の成人の約65%が体重過多であり、31%の児童が体重過多または体重過多の危険性があると報告され、1976－1980年に比べ約2倍に増加している。アーカンソー州では2003年より公立学校の児童(K-12)を対象に体重過多の抑制および予防を目的に肥満指数(BMI)の調査を開始し、今回、2003－2004(Year1)および2004－2005(Year2)学年期における調査結果がまとめられた。収集されたデータはYear1:94%(423,263/449,485名)、Year2:97%(440,572/454,464名)であり、それぞれ82%(347,250名)、84%(367,879名)のデータが分析され、体重過多(BMI=95%タイル以上)の児童は全体で21%、体重過多リスクあり(BMI=85－95%タイル未満):17%、正常(BMI=5－85%タイル未満):60%、体重不足(BMI=5%タイル未満)であった。性別、年齢および人種/民族別にはYear1、Year2それぞれ332,288名、364,173名のデータが分析され、体重過多および体重過多リスクにある児童は、女子では6年生黒人児童がYear1(49%)、Year2(50%)ともに最も高く、男子ではYear1は4年生ラテン系児童(59%)、Year2は5年生ラテン系児童(58%)が最も高率であった。男女別では女子に比べ男子にて全学年やや高値であり、ハイスクールでは女子:32－33%に対し男子:37%と差が大きく、また、人種/民族別では黒人およびラテン系児童にて高値であった。体重過多および体重過多リスクにある児童はYear1、Year2ともに約38%とNational Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)データ(2002年:31%)よりも約23%高値であることから、州および地域レベルでの体重過多および成人肥満の抑制を目的にデータ収集は2005－2006学年期も継続して実施されている。
