Dental Visits Among Dentate Adults with Diabetes - United States, 1999 and 2004

歯のある成人糖尿病患者の歯科検診率－アメリカ、1999年および2004年

糖尿病合併症の1つである歯周病は、歯を支える組織の慢性感染により歯が抜けてしまうため、定期的な歯科医の受診が予防、早期診断および治療に最も有効とされ、2010年の健康目標にも、糖尿病患者の定期歯科検診率を71%とすることが挙げられている。今回、CDCは糖尿病患者における定期歯科検診率を1999年および2004年Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System(BRFSS)データから分析した。2004年における回答率は52.7%(ニュージャージー州:32.2%－ネブラスカ州:66.6%)、糖尿病患者は25,736名、うち82%は歯があると回答した。調査前12ヶ月以内の歯科検診率は67.3%(ミシシッピ州:49.1%、ミネソタ州:83.3%)であり、1999年65.9%(DC:37.0%、コネチカット州:82.6%)からわずかに増加していた。州別ではアリゾナ、カンザス、ミネソタ、オハイオ州およびDCにて有意に増加し、ノースカロライナ州では有意に低下していた。また、検診率は非ラテン系黒人、低学歴、低収入および医療保険非加入者において低かった。今後、目標値の達成には州および国レベルでの歯科検診の重要性の認識を高めていく必要があると考えられた。
