State-Specific Prevalence of Current Cigarette Smoking Among Adults - United States, 2003

成人における州別現在喫煙率－アメリカ,2003年

アメリカでは喫煙により毎年約44万人が死亡する。成人における現在の喫煙率を調査するため、CDCは2003年のBehavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System(BRFSS)調査データを分析した。2003年、50州、ワシントンDC、グアム、プエルトリコおよびUSバージン諸島(USVI)の18歳以上の成人における現在喫煙率中央値は22.1%［12.0%(ユタ州)―30.8%(ケンターキー州)］であった。喫煙率は男性［中央値24.8% (14.0―33.8%)］が女性［中央値20.3% (9.9―28.1%)］より高かった。州別喫煙率は男女ともケンターッキー州が最高(男性:33.8%、女性:28.1%)で、ユタ州が最低(男性14.0%、女性:9.9%)であった。50州およびワシントンDC以外の地域(グアム、プエルトリコ、USVI)における成人の現在喫煙率中央値は、13.6%［10.0%(USVI)―34.0%(グアム)］であった。アメリカの成人における現在喫煙率は低下しているが、その低下率は2010年国民健康目標(成人の喫煙率12%未満)達成には不十分である。更なる喫煙率低下のために州/地域は包括的な喫煙コントロールプログラム(室内空気清浄法、メディアキャンペーン、タバコ税の増税など)を実施する必要がある。
