Effect of Ending an Antitobacco Youth Campaign on Adolescent Susceptibility to Cigarette Smoking - Minnesota, 2002-2003

青少年のタバコ喫煙容認に対する若年者禁煙キャンペーン終了の影響－ミネソタ,2002～2003年

喫煙者の多くは青年期に喫煙を始める。州の包括的喫煙防止プログラム、特に広告によるキャンペーンは1997年以降の青少年喫煙者の大幅な減少に貢献している。ミネソタ州のタバコ規制プログラム用の年間資金は、2000年以降の若年者向けのキャンペーンが終了した2003年7月に2370万ドルから460万ドルに削減された。この資金削減の影響について評価するため、University of Miami School of Medicineは2003年11―12月にミネソタ州の12―17歳の青少年を対象としキャンペーンへの意識と喫煙容認の影響について調査し、以前の3回の調査結果(2002年7―9月、2003年3―4月、2003年7―8月)と比較した。キャンペーンを知っている青少年の割合は2002年7―9月(キャンペーン開始2年後)の74.6%から2003年3―4月には84.5%へと増加し、2003年7―8月もその割合を維持していたが、キャンペーン終了後の2003年11―12月には56.5%と有意に減少した。さらに喫煙容認者の割合は、2003年7―8月の43.3%から2003年11―12月には52.9%へと有意に増加した。年齢層、性、地理的地域別に分析した場合にも、同様の傾向がみられた。若年者の喫煙予防のためには、州の禁煙プログラム用の十分な資金を維持する必要があることが示された。
