Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Infections in Correctional Facilities - Georgia, California, and Texas, 2001-2003

刑務所におけるメチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌感染症(MRSA)－ジョージア、カリフォルニア、テキサス州,2001～2003年

ジョージア州では2001年6－9月に軽犯罪刑務所(200名収容)にてMRSA皮膚感染症11例、2002年4－7月に重犯罪刑務所(1,500名収容)にてMRSA感染症11例、2002年6－10月に郡拘置所(2,800名収容)にてMRSA皮膚感染症13例が確認された。カリフォルニア州では2002年にロサンゼルス郡拘置所にて921例のMRSA皮膚感染症、テキサス州では1996年1月－2002年7月に10,942例のMRSA感染が報告されている。いずれも衛生状態が原因と考えられており、石鹸の使用制限があること、衣類の洗濯が不十分で細菌が容易に増殖しやすい環境であることに加え、囚人自身の認識不足も問題視されている。また、不十分な医療措置や、医療スタッフのMRSA感染症に対する意識不足も感染拡大の要因と考えられている。国内の刑務所では独自の予防対策を講じる施設もみられている。
