Infants Tested for Hearing Loss - United States, 1999-2001

難聴(HL)は年間出生児1,000人あたり1－3人に認められ、診断されず放置した場合には発育遅延となる。Early Hearing Detection and Intervention(EHDI)プログラムは乳児HLの早期発見を推進している。このプログラムでは生後1ヶ月前に聴覚スクリーニングを行い、通過しなかった場合生後3ヶ月前に聴覚評価を実施、HLと診断した場合は生後6ヶ月前に早期介入を実施する(1-3-6プラン)。今回、State Health and Welfare AgenciesとCDCは1999－2001年のデータを収集、分析した。1999年は22州/地域の新生児1,433,780名中660,639名(46.1%)がスクリーニングを受け、うち8州/地域の8,145名中4,221名(51.8%)に聴覚評価が行われた。2000年は46州/地域の2,872,869名中1,496,014名(52.1%)がスクリーニングを受けた。また、2001年は52州/地域の3,232,014名中2,115,869名(65.4%)にスクリーニングが行われ、うち40州/地域の21,377名中11,901名(55.7%)に聴覚評価が実施された。1999、2001年ともに結果を報告した21州/地域では、2001年のスクリーニング施行例数が1999年に比べ35%増加しており、10州/地域における聴覚評価施行率は4.0%から2.0%に減少した。HLと診断された乳児は1999年179名、2001年1,354名で、それぞれ108名、879名が早期介入プログラムに登録された。
