Suspected Moonflower Intoxication - Ohio, 2002

2002年10月11日－11月20日にかけて、オハイオ州アクロン/クリーブランドの青少年14名[年齢中央値17(12－19)歳、男12女2]がDatura inoxia(アメリカチョウセンアサガオ)中毒を発症した。全例とも種を食したか、種を使ったお茶を飲んだ直後に発症、救急診療部を受診した。瞳孔散大、頻拍、幻覚および尿貯留などの抗コリン作用性症状を呈し、24－48時間持続した後、支持療法とベンゾジアゼピン投与により回復した。Datura種はスコポラミン、ヒヨスチアミンを主成分とし、抗コリン作用性毒性を示す。症状は通常摂取から60分以内に発現し24－48時間持続する。症状として中枢神経系では錯乱、不穏、不安、幻覚、痙攣、昏睡、末梢系では粘膜乾燥、口渇、顔面紅潮、かすみ目、高熱、尿貯留、腸運動の低下などが挙げられている。治療法として支持療法、腸内洗浄、ベンゾジアゼピン、フィゾスチグミンの投与などがある。
