State-Specific Prevalence of Obesity Among Adults with Disabilities - Eight States and the District of Columbia, 1998-1999

障害を有する成人における肥満症の州別有病率－8州およびワシントンDC，1998～1999年

18歳以上の障害者、あるいは非障害者における肥満症有病率を検討するため、CDCは8州(アラバマ、アーカンソー、アイオワ、カンザス、ニューヨーク、ノースカロライナ、ロードアイランド、サウスカロライナ)およびワシントンDCにおける1998－1999年のBehavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System(BRFSS)のデータを分析した。肥満症はBMI30.0kg/m2として定義した。結果、調査集団全体の肥満率は18.4%であった。肥満率は障害者群(27.4%)で非障害者群(16.5%)に比し高く、性、年齢、人種、民族別肥満率も障害者群の方が高値を示した。障害者群の肥満率は黒人(35.8%)で白人(25.7%)に比し有意に高かった。また年齢層(18－44歳、45－64歳、65歳以上)別肥満率も障害者群と非障害者群とで有意差がみられ、特に45－64歳の集団における肥満率の差は障害者群34.4%、非障害者群19.5%と最大であった。障害者における肥満率は州ごとに異なり、その範囲は22.7%(ロードアイランド)－35.6%(ワシントンDC)であった。以上のデータは肥満症がしばしば障害と共存することを示唆する。障害者をターゲットとした肥満予防および体重減少のための健康管理対策をたてる必要がある。
