至適フッ素添加公共飲料水の摂取人口－アメリカ，2000年

アメリカでは5歳から9歳小児の50%、12歳から17歳の67%、18歳以上の成人の94%が虫歯であり、その予防のため至適濃度(0.7－1.2ppm)のフッ素を添加した公共飲料水を供給している。CDCは1998年から2000年に飲料水フッ素添加報告システム(WFRS)を設立し、その供給率の調査を行った。2000年は約16,200万人[公共水道システム利用者の65.8%、1992年は14,400万人(62.1%)]がフッ素添加飲料水の供給を受けている。州別では2%(ユタ州)から100%(ワシントンDC)が供給をうけ、中央値76.7%であった。1992年から2000年、27州で供給率が増加し[増加率0.8(ジョージア)－63.8%(ネバダ)、中央値4.9%]、23州で低下した[低下率0.1(アイオワ)－6.0%(アラスカ)、中央値2.9%]。2000年新たにデラウエア、メーン、ミズーリ、ネブラスカおよびバージニア州が目標供給率75%に達し、目標達成州は26となっている。
