Creation of Summary (Abstracting)

  • We prepare Japanese summaries (third-party abstracts) focused on your specified products or topics, covering Japanese and English literature.

● What is a summary?

A summary, also known as an abstract, is a brief text that summarizes the content of an article or paper, allowing readers to quickly grasp the key points. It must describe the content accurately and concisely, without including subjective interpretations or evaluations.
The summaries provided by IMIC are third-party abstracts.

  • Author abstract: A summary created by the authors.
  • Third-party abstract: A summary created by someone other than the authors.

Furthermore, there are two types of abstract formats:

  • Structured abstract: A format organized into sections such as Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
  • Unstructured abstract: A format summarized as a continuous paragraph without specific sectional divisions.

IMIC’s summary preparation services offer flexible solutions tailored to your specific objectives and requirements. We can accommodate choices between structured and unstructured styles, focus summaries on particular drugs or diseases, and ensure strict compliance with character counts and specific data-entry rules.

Indexing

  • We assign the specified keywords to literature data to facilitate literature searches.
Examples: Diseases, drug names, dosage and administration
  • We support both Japanese and English literature, and all indexing is performed in Japanese.

● What is indexing?

Indexing is the process of organizing literature content to make it easily searchable.
Our specialized staff carefully reads each piece of literature, extracts core themes and key terms, and tags them in accordance with predetermined rules. This enables database users to smoothly find and retrieve the exact information they need.
For instance, the ability to search a database using specific criteria such as "diabetes," "adverse effects," or "clinical trials" is made possible because accurate keywords have been assigned to the literature through proper indexing.
In this way, indexing serves as a vital mechanism that supports immediate access to critical information.
