Trends in Breastfeeding Among Infants Enrolled in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children — New York, 2002–2015

女性、乳児、小児に対する特別補助栄養プログラムに参加した乳児における母乳栄養の傾向 ― ニューヨーク州、2002～2015年

ニューヨーク州では女性、乳児および小児に対する特別補助栄養プログラム(WIC)を実施しており、今回、WICに参加する乳児における母乳栄養の傾向の評価が行われた。その結果、New York WICに参加する乳児における母乳栄養の開始率は2002年：62.0％から2015年：83.4％に増加し、Healthy People 2020 (HP2020)目標値(81.9％)は2014年に超えていた(82.4％)。ヒスパニック系の乳児では2007年にすでに目標値に達し、その後も年間0.8％ポイント増加している。また、アジア人はもっとも大きな増加を示し(2002年：45.8％、2015年：82.4％)、白人は2015年にて79.0％とまだ目標値に達していない。母乳を与える期間については6カ月以上、12カ月以上それぞれ2002年：30.2％、15.0％から2015年：39.5％、22.8％に増加し、また、完全母乳栄養の期間は3カ月以上、6カ月以上それぞれ2006年8.9％、2.9%から2015年:14.3％、8.0％に増加していた。HP2020における母乳栄養期間の目標は12カ月以上であり、母乳栄養の開始率は目標値に達するまで改善したが、期間については目標値に遠いものであった。New York WICプログラムは新生児の肥満予防を目的として進められており、今後、母乳栄養期間を延長するための対策が必要であると考える。
