Tobacco Use Among Middle and High School Students — United States, 2011–2014

ミドルおよびハイスクールの生徒における喫煙 ― アメリカ、2011～2014年

たばこの使用と嗜癖は若年のうちに始まることが多いが、若年者の喫煙はいかなる形態のたばこであっても安全ではなく、脳の発達に有害な影響を与えるかもしれない。ミドルスクール (6～8年生)およびハイスクール(9～12年生)の生徒におけるたばこの使用状況を調査するため、CDCおよびFDAは、2011～2014年のNational Youth Tobacco Survey (NYTS)のデータを分析した。2014年のNYTSには計207校、22,007名が参加し、回答率は73.3％であった。2014年、ハイスクール生徒の24.6％およびミドルスクール生徒の7.7％が最近30日以内にたばこ製品を使用し、それぞれ12.7％および3.1％が2種類以上を使用していた。種類別では、電子たばこ(ハイスクール：13.4％、ミドルスクール：3.9％)、水たばこ(同9.4％および2.5％)、紙巻たばこ(同9.2％および2.5％)、葉巻(同8.2％および1.9％)、無煙たばこ(同5.5％および1.6％)、スヌース(同1.9％および0.5％)、パイプ(同1.5％および0.6％)、ビディ(同0.9％および0.5％)、溶解性たばこ(同0.6％および0.3％)であった。ハイスクールでは非ヒスパニック系白人、ヒスパニック系および非ヒスパニック系その他人種にて電子たばこの使用が多く、非ヒスパニック系黒人では葉巻が多かった。2011～2014年にかけて、ハイスクール生徒の電子たばこ(1.5％から13.4％)および水たばこ(4.1％から9.4％)の使用率は有意に増加し、逆に、紙巻たばこ(15.8％から9.2％)およびスヌース(2.9％から1.9％)、葉巻(11.6％から8.2％)、パイプ(4.0％から1.5％)、ビディ(2.0％から0.9％)の使用率は有意に減少した。たばこ製品全体の最近の使用率(24.2％から24.6％)および2種類以上使用率(12.5％から12.7％)には変化が認められなかった。ミドルスクール生徒の傾向も同様で、有意な減少が認められたのは2種類以上使用率(3.8％から3.1％)のみであった。2014年、推計で約460万人の生徒がたばこ製品を使用し、そのうち240万人が電子たばこ、160万人が水たばこを使用していた。たばこ製品全体の使用率は変化しておらず、若年者に対する包括的な規制と予防が必要である。
