19歳以下の若者における糖尿病死亡率－アメリカ、1968～2009年

2010年、アメリカにおける19歳以下の糖尿病患者は約215,000例であり、ここ10年ほどは糖尿病治療薬の進歩により糖尿病患者の生存率は改善しているが、10歳未満および10～19歳における糖尿病による死亡率の最近の傾向については報告されていない。CDCがNational Vital Statistics Systemデータを用いて1968～2009年の19歳以下の糖尿病による死亡率を分析した結果、1968～1969年と2008～2009年における19歳以下100万人あたりの死亡率はそれぞれ2.69、1.05と61%低下し、10歳未満では1.80から0.39(78%低下)、10～19歳では3.56から1.71(52%低下)であった。10歳未満における年間パーセント変化率(APC)は、1968～1995年は-5.7と着実に減少したが、1995～2009年は:-0.3であった。10～19歳では1968～1984年のAPCは-6.5と減少したが、1984～2009年には1.6と増加した。以上、糖尿病による死亡率はとくに10歳未満の症例にて低下しているが、10～19歳では近年増加傾向が認められ、今後も診断および治療の改善の必要性が示唆された
