Vital Signs: Current Cigarette Smoking Among Adults Aged ＝18 Years － United States, 2009

バイタルサイン:18歳以上の成人における現喫煙率－アメリカ、2009年

2009 National Health Interview Survey(NHIS)および2009 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System(BRFSS)データから、2009年のアメリカにおける成人の現喫煙率の推計を行った。現喫煙者は生涯100本以上のタバコを吸い、現在、毎日または時々煙草を吸う者とした。その結果、2009年における現成人喫煙率は20.6%(約4,660万人)であり、うち78.1%(3,640万人)は毎日喫煙、21.9%(1,020万人)は時々喫煙していた。男女別では男性:23.5%、女性:17.9%であり、人種別では非ラテン系混合人種:29.5%、アメリカンインディアン/アラスカ原住民:23.2%、非ラテン系白人:22.1%、非ラテン系黒人:21.3%、ラテン系:14.5%、アジア系:12.0%の順であった。年齢別では18～24歳:21.8%、25～44歳:24.0%、45～64歳:21.9%、65歳以上:9.5%と年齢による大きな相違は認められず、教育レベルに関してはGED(高卒認定者)にて49.1%と最も高く、大学院修了者にて5.6%と最も低かった。地域別では中西部(23.1%)、南部(21.8%)、北東部(20.0%)、西部(16.4%)の順であり、州別ではケンタッキー州およびウェストバージニア州:25.6%～ユタ州:9.8%であった。また、年次推移では2005年:20.9%、2009年:20.6%と大きな変動は認めなかった。Healthy People 2010の目標値である12%以下には達しておらず、今後も病院での臨床的禁煙介入とともにタバコ税、メディアキャンペーン、禁煙政策などの強化による禁煙および喫煙開始の阻止を推進していく必要性が示される結果となった。
