Adult Use of Prescription Opioid Pain Medications － Utah, 2008

成人における麻薬性鎮痛薬の使用－ユタ州、2008年

近年、ユタ州および全国各地で処方鎮痛薬の致死性・非致死性過量服用が増加している。2008年、Utah Department of Healthは州住民における処方鎮痛薬の入手方法と使用法を理解するため、州のBehavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System(BRFSS)調査に12項目の質問を加えた。その調査結果によると、2008年のBRFSS調査に回答したユタ州の18歳以上の成人 5,330名のうち20.8%は調査前12ヶ月間に少なくとも1種類の処方箋麻薬性鎮痛薬を使用していた。これら使用例の3.2%は、医師の指示よりも高頻度あるいは高用量で薬剤を服用していた。また麻薬性鎮痛薬処方例の72.0%は薬剤が残ったと回答し、そのうち71.0%は残った薬剤を保存していた。さらに全体の1.8%は処方されていない処方箋麻薬性鎮痛薬を使用しており、そのうち97.0%はその薬剤を友人や親族から入手していた。2009年、 Utah Department of Healthは処方箋医薬品、特に麻薬の誤用あるいは乱用による罹病率、死亡率、機能障害率を低下させるためのガイドラインを発表した。そのガイドラインには、疼痛が消退した場合には未使用薬剤を適切に処理するよう患者に指導すること、麻薬性鎮痛薬を一般的な重度疼痛持続期間に基づいた必要投与回数以上処方しないことという、医療従事者に対する勧告が含まれている。
