Nonfatal Occupational Injuries and Illnesses Among Workers Treated in Hospital Emergency Departments － United States, 2003

病院救急部にて治療された労働者における非致死性労働災害－アメリカ、2003年

CDCのNational Institute for Occupational Safety and Health（NIOSH）は、救急部（ED）のサーベイランスシステムである、National Electronic Injury Surveillance System（NEISS）を通して非致死性労働災害のデータを収集している。この報告は2003年のデータをまとめたものである。2003年のEDで治療された労働災害の全体数（3,402,200例）と発生率（15歳以上のフルタイム労働者100名あたり2.5例）は、1998年のデータ（それぞれ3,600,000例、2.9）と有意差はなかった（P0.05）。また労働災害の年齢別・性別分布にも変化はみられず（一般に加齢とともに減少）、診断別分布も1998年と同様であった。2003年には全体で2,702,100例（79%）が5種類の診断カテゴリー（挫傷・捻挫:27%、裂傷・刺傷・切断・剥離:24%、打撲・擦過傷・血腫:18%、脱臼・骨折:7%、熱傷:3%）に含まれていた。これらの診断カテゴリーに含まれる患者は主に15－24歳（22%）と25－54歳（70%）の労働者であった。EDで治療を受けた患者のうち入院が必要であったのは約2%であった。非致死性労働災害を大幅に減少させるためには、年齢に特化した（若年労働者など）安全性対策と全般的な職場内の安全性をターゲットとした予防努力を続けていく必要がある。
