Blood Mercury Levels in Young Children and Childbearing-Aged Women - United States, 1999-2002

小児および妊娠可能年齢女性における血中水銀濃度－アメリカ、1999～2002年

水中に含まれるメチル水銀は動物の組織中に蓄積し、食物連鎖により生の魚介類からヒトの体内に摂取される。高濃度の水銀曝露は、神経系および腎障害を来たし、特に妊娠可能年齢女性が曝露した場合、胎児の神経系に悪影響を及ぼすことが知られている。CDCのNational Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)は、1999年より妊娠可能年齢女性(16―49歳)および1―5歳の小児における血中水銀濃度の調査を開始し、今回、1999―2002年データがまとめられた(妊娠可能年齢女性:3,637名、1―5歳小児:1,577名)。健康診断時に静脈穿刺により採取した血中総水銀濃度および無機水銀濃度を測定した結果(検出限界はそれぞれ0.14μg/L、0.4μg/L)、妊娠可能年齢女性および1―5歳の小児における血中総水銀濃度の幾何平均(GM)はそれぞれ0.92、0.33μg/Lであり、95thパーセントタイルはそれぞれ6.04、2.21μg/Lであった。環境保護局の定める基準値(5.8μg/L)を越える16―49歳女性は5.66%であった。また、無機水銀濃度はほぼ全員が検出限界以下であった。魚は低脂肪、低コレステロール、高タンパク質で栄養価が高いが、メチル水銀曝露は胎児に害であるため、FDAは妊娠する女性に対してサメ、メカジキ、サワラ、アマダイの摂取を控えるよう呼びかけている。
