Diabetes Prevalence Among American Indians and Alaska Natives and the Overall Population - United States, 1994-2002

アメリカンインディアン/アラスカ原住民(AI/AN)は他の人種/民族に比べ糖尿病有病率が高く、その有病率は過去16年間増加し続けている。AI/ANとアメリカ総人口における糖尿病有病率の傾向について調査するため、CDCはIndian Health Service(IHS)とBehavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Systemのデータを分析した。1994年から2002年にかけて、糖尿病の年齢調整有病率はアメリカ成人で54%(4.8%→7.3%)、AI/AN成人で33.2%(11.5%→15.3%)増加した。両集団とも糖尿病有病率は加齢とともに増加した。2002年には55歳以上のAI/ANの約30%が糖尿病を有していた。両集団とも有病率は若年者が最低であったが、この期間中における有病率の相対的増加がより大きかったのは20－34歳のAI/AN(73.7%:1.8%から3.1%)と35－44歳のアメリカ成人(86.8%:2.0%から3.7%)であった。糖尿病を根絶するためには、臨床試験と最良の診療モデルから得られた知識と介入法をAI/ANコミュニティ内での予防プログラムに取り入れる必要がある。
